Leaving Home

He stood there waiting for the ride,
that would take him on his chosen way.
He wiped a tear he couldn't hide,
when he realized the changes that he'd made....
Would part his path from ours so surely.

His harbor home where love had kept him right,
traded for a future bright with promise but unclear,
Like a fledgling bird, unsure but poised for flight,
committed to the course that he would steer,
when nest was left to soar uncharted skies.

My heart went with him as he stepped into the car.
I'd waited for a ride so long ago and closed the door,
and wiped away that same bright tear and felt the fear
that if I left that I would nevermore
find the path that would bring me home again.

And I smiled inside as I wiped away my own tear,
knowing now the truth that he will someday find,
that though he wanders far from home or near,
that home will always dwell in heart and mind,
and love will light his way and guide him back again.

Fairy

Once upon a time ago,
there was a place it would not snow.
The town was always hot and dry,
you felt like you could die.
But one day on a hot summer night,
out of the sky came a bird in flight.
But when the bird landed it turned into a fairy,
to save the town and turn them merry.
When the town was cold and snowey,
everyone forgot of the fairy except Joey.
He saw her weeping in the woods that night,
she said leave I must go into my flight.
And from then on it was always cold,
for Joey one soul he did not told.

The Wind Song

Sometimes it just peeks among the trees,
Nothing to do and nowhere to go.
Other days it whistles sweetly,
Someplace where everything's in peace.

At night it glides around the bright moon,
releasing a sigh, blowing far 'n' high.
If you miss it, it'll come back soon,
Racing freely through the soft, white clouds.

Sunflower
(A Poem for Amy)

Sunflower blooms, glowing like sunlight,
Smile beaming, spirit lifting, happy making,
Gently swaying, winking, waving, cheerful, bright.
Daughter flower in daddy's garden waking,
Like southern wind through waving wheat,
You warm my heart and make my life complete.

Bugs
(To the tune of Are You Sleeping?)

Big Bugs, Little Bugs
Big bugs, Little bugs
On the wall,
On the wall,
Creepy, creepy crawling
Never, ever falling
Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!
Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

Clouds

Clouds are many pictures in the sky
When I look at them I feel like I can fly.

When I look at them with a keen eye
I see angels and eagles floating by.

The sky clear blue, the clouds fluffy and white
If I were up there I could fly like a kite.

If I were lucky and could live up there
I would have to find a very tall stair.

La Lune

La lune got all the colours
Inside
When la nuit
Cassé
And the feu go bang
Descend
Look la lumiere.

Stones In The Road

As I live my life
Each day,
Things become clearer to me.
My experiences with friendships
And loss,
Have brought me closer
To finding out who I am.
I learn as I live.
Each day I live with
Pain and sadness,
And a smile on my face.
Wondering if it's really worth it.
I live with tears in my eyes,
And fear in my heart.
I try to express myself,
But it's like talking to a brick wall.
No one understands me.
No one understands the complexity
Of my soul.
My head is filled with questions:
Will anyone ever understand me?
Will I ever be truely happy?
I guess in order to answer my questions
I'll have to live life each day
As best as I can.
With sadness and tears in my eyes,
A smile on my face,
And hope in my heart.

Gum Woman

Sticking like a the gum on your shoe.
Sticking in a rented room.
Sticking without paying a cent.
Sticking without a single care.
In was the GumWoman!
She sticked there helplessly,
Out life.

The Wild Unknown

I have a yearning deep inside,
To pack my trav'ling bags,
And plant my feet upon the path
That wanders far and wide.

The wild unknown is calling me,
Its voice is sweet and strong,
I must soon heed the restless call,
And yield to the siren song.

I know not where she beckons me,
But I feel the wind a'blowing,
And I'll ride along like a sailing leaf,
Ever swirling, ever flowing.

My path may glide over prairies wide,
To the coastlands, wet and green,
Where strange birds soar in a cloudless sky,
On the shores of a crystal sea.

The call is clear and wilder still,
There's a stirring in my soul,
I must be off to live my fill,
And to find my spirit's goal.
