Best Friend

A best friend is a person
who knows you from the heart
She`ll never let me down
We`ll never part
I love my best friend
from the deepest of my heart
I just pray we`ll never part

- Sheena, age 12

Scared

I'm scared
I'm afraid
I have to be strong
Even though I might think its wrong
I may fall but I`ll get up
I will cry but tell myself to shut up
I will be strong
But god please give me the courage to
go on

- Sheena, age 12

I Miss You

I saw the moon cry a bloody tear just last night
I new in my heart something just wasn't right
I feared the next night of what i new was to become
The tearz are running from our eyez
But for some there still hidden inside
We keep thinking it's all just a bad dream
But it's not
Just cruel hard reality
Nelchina, dojo hear we are to stand by you all the way through.
We remember your smile your laugh
In our hearts you'll forever last.
I can't help but think of you, your dreams your hopes, your faults and all
The rest of it too, i don't know how to explain what i feel inside but i
Know one day
I'll stand with you by your side.

ROYGBIV

Oh rainbow with your array of shades
Brighten up my gloomy day
Dance out into the sky
Over the tops of the trees
Build me a path towards happiness
Oh, please, rainbow, please

- Lori

Summer Is Approaching

I sit and look above
into God's skies
I look up, up above
and see the
beautiful butterflies
and I slightly close my eyes
like a thinker does
and it seems to me
like winter never was.

- Heather, age 12

Rainbow

The clouds slowly roll in to cover the sky like a heavy, saturated blanket of grey.
Near by, lightning strikes.
It is followed by a loud clap of thunder, shaking the still air.
As the sound of the thunder slowly fades, the sound of rain hitting the window
becomes, once more, audible.
I trace each separate drop as it slowly slithers its way to the bottom of the glass.
A slice in the layer of darkness reveals the golden sun as the rain steadily persists.
Just at that moment, a translucent arch of the palest color slides across the sky.

I Don't Like It!!!!!

I don’t like spinach,
I don’t like peas,
I don’t like broccoli,
or lima beans!

I don’t like chicken,
I don’t like steak,
I don’t like hotdogs,
or pink and purple cake!

I don’t like peanuts,
I don’t like jam,
I don’t like rye bread,
and I don’t like ham!

I don’t like salad,
I don’t like juice,
I don’t like tomatoes,
or meat from a moose!

I don’t like kiwi,
I don’t like grapes,
I don’t like bananas
or strawberry crepes!

I don’t like syrup,
I don’t like honey,
I don’t like chocolate
from the Easter Bunny!

I don’t like crackers,
I don’t like paste,
I don’t like apples
or sewage waste!

I don’t like birds,
I don’t like bees
I don’t like the sunshine
and I don’t like the trees!

I don’t like squirrels,
I don’t like cats,
I don’t like dogs,
and I don’t like rats!

I don’t silver,
I don’t like gold,
I don’t like rings,
or things that are old!

But, I do like one thing,
and that thing is something nice,
I think it is the nicest thing,
that anyone can’t price.

The thing I like most,
is God’s love from above,
It’s special, and warm
and pure as a dove!

A Shadow

A shadow, appearing
out of the deep winter ocean
comes with its droppings of
liquid over the mountain bottom

floating between
farms crowded with strawberry
bushes, the tight red
berries in their short season

where sunlight strikes
images on the slanted surface
of the clear cold
screen blowing towards the shore

of the lake, green,
where with a dive, a small
waterfall, it disappears
throughout the waves.

Angels

Night is gaining on me it is dark, it is cold
The sun is gone there is no shimmer of gold
The moon is shining way up in the sky
It is not full as I wonder why
I am going to bed as I fall asleep
Lightning strikes, I begin to weep
I see the stars shining bright
And I know that tonight is the night
Where my angel will come flying down
Her wings spread with a long white gown
She is beautiful and she's here for me
"Have faith in yourself, can't you see"
Is what she says in hope for I
I love her and I'll see her when I die.

- Heather, age 12

The Shadow

The shadow lurks in the darkness of your footsteps, wherever you find light,
but he means no harm. He is only there to follow your every movement, like a
mirror, or a reflection on water. But he stands under you. You stand on top of
him. He is the shadow.

My Dog Made Me Do It

Courtney stopped to say hello
Her arm was in a cast
Tell me your tale of woe I said
How did this come to pass

I went outside to
Have some fun
When in my path
My dog did run

There's nothing more to say
He knocked me down
I broke my arm
And then he ran away

- William Cazalas

Little Red

To a little red head
I hardly know
I just stopped by
To say hello

I'm going to tell you
Just what i see
It's not the beauty that is
But the beauty that is to be

- William Cazalas, Adult

Best Friends

There's a place in my heart
I wish that you could see
I hope we're the best of friends
But that's between you and me

And if I had just one wish
I know what it would be
For me to look into your eyes
And see you smile at me

- William Cazalas

Dartmouth and Squiggly

Squiggly the cat on the carpet sat
And preened his fur so fine.
And Dartmouth the dog, his eyes agog
Watched the lithe feline.
A fruit fly fluttered the cat's eye by
And the cat leapt to trap the fly,
But the fly was too spry
And darted behind the ear of the hound nearby.

Now such a squabble the house never heard
As the cat hissed and the dog was de-furred.
Amidst yips and growls and yelps and snarls
The fly safely on the counter now curled.
It was only a moment the critter could rest
For Suzie Homemaker had spied the jest
And as on the counter the fly flatly sat,
Neath her fly-swatter, he went kersplat!

This sudden sound surprisingly swift
Caused the cat to jump and the dog to twist.
So the scuffle was bashed as they darted and dashed
To attend the death of the fly just smashed.
And Squiggly the cat with one ear hanging down
And Dartmouth the dog, his fur lying round
Both sniffed at the air is if from there
They might find the reason for their untimely warfare.
