Colors Of Our Hearts

Spring!

The sky was blue and light,
the sun was shining bright
The grass was a brilliant green.
The air smelled crisp and clean.
The wind whispered through the trees.
The sir buzzed with the sound of bees.
The dandelions speckled the ground.
The birds chirping made a beautiful sound.
The squirrels were all scampering around,
and hoarding away the nuts they had found.
The flowers were dazzling blue, purple, yellow, and red.
The earth was alive, no longer dead.
The winter is over you could hear the world say,
The winter is over and spring is here today.

Poem

There once was a cat named Pat
She lived under a dirty hat.

Then she met a rat
and they both ran with a rat-a-tat-tat.

Summer Fun

Summer is fun. Summer is cool
When you go to the beach or to the pool

Sunny days, warm nights
cats and dogs in fights.

Picnics, ants and flies
add to the fun. It's always a surprise!

Love

Love is the thing that makes the world,
Like the wind is the caress of a gentle lover over the landscape.
The rain is the crying of a man that was once in love.
The sun is the warm heart of a mother at the first sight of her newborn child,
And that is why love is the thing that makes the world.

Blue Cheese and Grape

I have a friend
She ate blue cheese with grape
She is a little bit odd
Could be why she likes it
But she did not make me try it
Because my friend
She knows the history
Behind cheese and me.

- Shariffah
(This is for my best friend of 7 years. She understands that I hate cheese.)

The Flower

Anyway I am a flower
I don't wish to be a tree
They grow
Both the flower and tree
From infancy to adulthood
They bloom into maturity
But the flower remains
Small and understated
Full of color and individuality
The tree - Green leaves and grey bark.

- Shariffah, age 20

Praying For A Kiss

From thee I shall request
For I know that I will miss
the everlasting pureness
of your sweet tender kiss.

With thee I share,
along with a sweet passionate kiss,
my love divine
and only pray for a gift of love as precious as mine.

Now with our love combined,
Your beauty very much unforgettable
and with the passing of each day,
we become very much unforgettable.

The inseparable sight of your eyes and mine,
even the brightest star can't match your shine
and with the twinkle reflecting the moonlight,
the ropes tie tighter
and you become forever mine.

- Pat, Kansas

Love

Love is real.
Love is feeling.
Love is everything.
That is what i think.

Love is dream.
Although it doesn't mean to be.
If u think it is unreal,
I will tell u what i feel

Love is kind
Love is blind
Love is always in my mind.

- Charing, Hong Kong

Tears

Glistening tales
of broken promises
Cherished gems
with family and friends
Anger's dew
hidden for nightime's slumber
Joyous reflections
of God's true love

- Jen, age 13

On Almost Every Tree

From the smallest to the tallest tree
I could see birds flying free

An eerie owl, a tiny sparrow
A colourful parrot a swan in a furrow

A peacock in full bloom
Was dancing to please the moon

A kingfisher is about to dive
And will cut the water like a knife

The swan has a red beak
And the parrot if taught will speak

The raven is pitch black
A dove is caught in the hunters sack

A seagull is snow white
It lands on water and creates a tide.

The kestrel has sharp claws
And its little babies will crawl.

The woodpecker has a noisy story
His tak-tak-tak can make you worry

But the overall jungle music is sweet
And nothing in nature makes us sorry.

Girls Are Special

I've written a poem for
A few little girls
Some with short hair
And some with long curls

I meet little girls
In lots of places
Some with blue eyes and
Some with teeth braces

Little girls are so special
Some grow up to be mothers
Some grow up to be nurses
And take care of others

Little girls are my favorite people
don't even ask me why
Little boys are nice too
But little girls make me cry

I've given you fair warning
I should have known it from the start
If you are not very careful
A little girl will steal your heart.

Mystery Creature

He sleeps in the day and is awake at night.
He walks across the meadow green.
Can you hear him howling?
Howling at the moon.

His face is like an owl's.
His body like a bear.
He has the feet of a deer.
His tail is short and stubby.
He is like all animals together.

Who is this mystery creature?
Maybe you know.

- Abby

Limericks

There was a young man from Darjeeling
Who hung by his toes from the ceiling
The reason for that?
His pet was a bat
And he wanted to know how it was feeling.

A magician in Tanjong Rhu
Was trying new tricks to do
Just for a laugh
He tried sawing in half -
Now there's not one magician - but two!

- Roger, adult, Singapore

Just A Hug

When you gave me a
Hug so bold
It warmed my heart
And my soul

If you ever feel
Sad or blue
I'll give that hug
Right back to you

If a friend you
Want to be
Then just give that hug
Right back to me

But if a hug
Just won’t do
I'll send you flowers
And candy, too
