Lee County Middle School
  Chase
by Chase, age 13

There once was a homey named Chase
Who had a despicable face.
He scared all the girls
And straightened their curls -
They passed out all over the place!

Broken Togetherness
by Olivia

Everyone here used to be so close,
Now everything has changed.
Everyone is breaking apart.
We were friends, then BANG!
Everybody was okay at first,
But it's kinda sad how things go.
All these tempers began to burst.
It fell apart so slow.
One day we all broke out and fought.
Now, nothings been the same.
Signs of best friends and favoritism
are showing in every way.
I know I won't see them all my life.
One day we're going to depart,
But i don't understand why we can't be friends now,
And take each other to heart.

The Pencil Saga
by Angie

Smooth, rough, dry, and sweaty
are some of the fingers that squeze the breath out of me.

They abuse me everyday when they
break my lead purposefully just so they can pass a note.
Then they put me in a prison,
where I can't escape
'cause I'm surrounded by turnin' swords.
Then finally rub off all of my bright red hair,
and TRY,
I repeat TRY,
to replace it with a hat that covers my whole face,
and worst of all it's a horrible blue.

Wednesday
by Olivia

I was sitting in my room, watching Dawson's Creek,
Then I started thinking, "Abby is, like, such a geek!"
Pacey and Dawson are totally fine.
Justin's really crunk.
I don't like Chris;
His hair is, like, funk!
Joey is way corky,
Britney Spears, is on tour with them,
But she is really dorky.
Now I'm still in my room, and I am tired of thinking,
I'm not gonna watch the next show,
It is really stinky!

The Beach
by Bobbi

The feeling of hot sand beneath my toes,
The smell of salt air that no other place knows,

The sight of the waves tumbling about,
The taste of savory, freshly cooked trout,

The smell of a sea breeze coming in from far away,
Forever and ever I wish I could stay.

Basketball
by Bobbi

The purpose of me is to bounce, so respect, I don't get an ounce.

But headaches, I get plenty of them, especially when I'm thrown back and forth in the gym!

I'm also used for shooting hoops, they play the game with me in groups.

If you and I ever meet, just try not to bounce me, follow that rule and we'll get along nicely.

The Life Saving Words
by Angie

Joe was younger; Ann was older,
The game grew intense as the air grew colder.
A squabble broke out at the boundary line.
As little Joe Brown started to whine.

As little Joe fell from that little shove,
That his sister gave because of mad love,
The concrete struck his little head,
And stained the driveway permanently red.

Then Joe's big sister Ann started laughing
Because she honestly didn't know what was happening.
Then she realized nothing moved over there,
Not even one little strand of hair.
Then a very long minute had gone by,
And no sound came from him; not even a cry.

She ran to him to see if he still had life.
As the pain struck her like a very sharp knife.
He still held life, but he wouldn't awake,
So Ann told her mother to make a life-saving date.

The sirens whined as they rushed down the street,
So Joe, God, and Heaven would not have to meet.

As the professional doctor came out of his room,
He said,"Joe won't be coming out of his coma any time soon."
Please, only two at a time enter,
Even though he is the attention at center.

As Ann patiently waited her turn,
Her stomach nervously began to churn.
Ann walked in and stood next to his head,
As she had the continuous thought of dread.

Ann then held his hand and said,
I love you and I'm sorry I made you bump your head.
At that he awoke to say
"You were out, as sure as cows eat hay."

What did I do for You???
by Justin, 8th Grade

You loved me,
Cared for me,
Watched out for me,
And helped me through the tough times.
But what did I do for you???

You died for me,
Lived for me,
And expected nothing in return.
But what did I do for you???

You gave me life.
You made a place for me.
I'll meet you one day,
But what did I do for you???

Perception
by Chase

The reflection of oneself in a lake could be quite clear to some,
if the lake was all they had.
But for one who has a mirror,
the reflection from the lake would be blurry and bad.
If one was once blind and was then to see blurry,
he would be forever greatful.
But if one once had perfect vision and was to see blurry,
he would be forever hateful.
One would have no judgement about where he is now if he had no
recollection of where he once was.

Changing To Insanity
by Chase

If colors slowly inverted throughout the day,
If no one talked in a certain way,
If their accents changed from one to another,
If relatives were changing and an uncle became a brother,
If nothing stayed the same and your chest was now your back,
With all this changing,
Would you soon crack?

Parents
by Kris, age 13

My Mom says I mumble
My Dad says, "Speak Up."
My step-dad says I talk too much.

My Mom says, "Don't slouch."
My Dad says, "Let's go."
My step-dad says, "Sit up."

"I like to slouch", I say.
I don't wanna go.
I'm lazy. I can't.

But I do these things
Not 'cause I want to-
only because I can and have to.

Wrung Clouds
by Kris, age 13

blue sky
heat unbearable
clouds form
water pours
from rag clouds
wrung out
over fields
so green grows
from the ground
in the spring
wakes you up
from frozen sleep

a heart
by Kris, age 13

dried up
useless
cold
empty
wrung out
broken just so
pain unbearable
no love
not now
not until
the next time

reading
by Kris, age 13

words swirl
pictures form
worlds created
for me to go

i read when
boredom hits
or when life's hard
and i want to ignore

to stop fears and tears
from slipping in
i slip away
into my worlds

with the help
of things
without minds to think
that are better than
anything with

Granny
by Kris, age 13

flowers everywhere
red, pink, white, yellow, too
carnations, mostly red
for you see that was the color she loved the most
and for us to say good-bye
it's easier to say it in the way she wanted most

liquid lies
by Kris, age 13

he says
no thought
it flows
from within
no one knows what's for real
any more
he's in his teens
with coming age
he will be
for sure

It is cuddly and huggable.

Love
by Haley, age 12

Love feels like a gentle breeze
Blowing with great softness and ease.
Love tastes like freshly squeezed orange juice without the seeds.
Love looks like the new winter coat of snow that softly floats.
Love sounds like the drip-drop of rain
On the green grass of a wide plain.
Love smelle like a newborn flower
Right after a short Spring shower.
Love comes in so many ways;
Make sure you use it every day.

And sounds like an orchestra playing beautifully.
